I just finished When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka 鈥� a wonderfully elegiac story of a Japanese-American family interned in Utah during World War II. Otsuka鈥檚 "The Buddha in the Attic," which I read as a companion piece, is also fabulous.
