I've just enjoyed The Newlyweds by Nell Freudenberger, a novel with one foot in Bangladesh and the other in Rochester, N.Y. The reader experiences daily life in each locale, and in both village and larger city environs in Bangladesh. The author offers a vivid sense of place and her characters are well developed. It's tempting to hope there may be a "next chapter" in the lives of the protagonists.
