Midnight in Peking: How the Murder of 聽a Young Englishwoman Haunted the Last Days of Old China by Paul French is a fascinating account of the murder of Pamela Werner in 1937. 聽The police 聽were unable to solve this crime, and the case was closed. 聽Pamela's father, E.T.C. Werner, then began his own private investigation. 聽The author's research led him to agree with Mr. Werner's conclusion as to the person or persons responsible for his daughter's murder.聽
