Brown's book is the second in his "Red Rising" series. Darrow worked underground, buoyed by the promises of the upper-class Golds that his work and those by others will create a good future. Now that Darrow knows that the Golds' stories were lies, he decides to disguise himself as a member of their class so as to work against them from within. "He's a good and respectful person and this is a race of treacherous, horrible people," says Nelson.
