(Read by Natalie Ross, Brilliance Audio, 5 CDs, 5 hours and 32 minutes)
The last in a trilogy, this coming-of-age story centers on Katie, an Army brat with an angry, distant father and no mother. Katie鈥檚 meditations are charming and wise at their best (although a bit like a Hallmark movie at their worst). Recently relocated from Texas to Missouri, Katie makes some dubious friends and develops a crush on an older man. This book is accessible to both older and young adults, which makes for a perfect mother/daughter listen. Reader Natalie Ross stays true to the story, and sounds appropriately young. However, her male voices are unnatural and intrusive. Grade: B+
