You Can't Make This Stuff Up has a lot of practical information, even if it is a bit too self-help-oriented for my taste. There are sections on things like anxiety and time management, and, well, the author explains his approach in the introduction. He states that the basics will be outlined, 鈥渁long with the passion, the spirituality, the painful frustrations, and the irreplaceable rewards of the creative nonfiction way of writing and living.鈥 I would recommend this one to genre newcomers with one really big caveat: If you鈥檙e the sort of person who rolls your eyes when words like 鈥渟pirituality鈥 and 鈥減assion鈥 appear in an advice manual, skip this one and stick with "Storycraft."
