Writing for The New York Times in 2008, Romney asserted that General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler should not receive bailouts and should be allowed to go bankrupt 鈥渙therwise you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye.鈥 He was, of course, proven wrong, but he also revealed a startlingly Darwinian view of capitalism. 鈥淩omney nonetheless still sees capitalism as a form of 鈥榗reative destruction鈥 with new fiscal life arising from the fiscal blood that鈥檚 shed,鈥 .
