Destiny, voiced by Kaitlin Olson (top), Bailey, a beluga whale voiced by Ty Burrell, and Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, in a scene from 'Finding Dory.'

There are some rollicky moments in 鈥淔inding Dory,鈥 which comes 13 years after the markedly better 鈥淔inding Nemo,鈥 both directed by Andrew Stanton. The inventiveness of the animation is not matched by the frayed workmanship of the story line, in which the hyperforgetful blue tang Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) searches for her long-lost parents.

Better to create new worlds than retread old ones. Grade: B- (Rated PG for mild thematic elements.)
