A great starting place is Julia Spencer-Fleming鈥檚 The Rev. Clare Fergusson & Russ Van Alstyne Mysteries series. The first book is 鈥淚n the Bleak Midwinter,鈥� and follows the Rev. Clare Ferguson, a former veteran who has dealt with PTSD and ministers to a small town in upstate New York. Spencer-Fleming is on Louise Penny鈥檚 level in terms of wrestling with big questions about the nature of goodness.
