Although Dr. J was known for keeping his cool and carrying himself admirably on the court, he did once have a midgame fight with Boston鈥檚 Larry Bird. Tugging and pulling at each other during one Celtics-76ers games led to fisticuffs that cleared both benches. But Erving says the two have never harbored any animosity over the incident and went on to join forces in making commercials together and in promoting a Dr. J vs. Larry Bird video game. Neither ever agrees to autograph photos taken of their skirmish.
