Webb remembered the aftermath of the 2012 Olympics being held in London. "Americans can still learn from Britain and still do," he wrote. "And we from them 鈥 not least, as The Times remarked in a wistful editorial after Barack Obama's visit to London in May 2011, in the area of self-confidence and assertiveness: we have lost our ability to trumpet our achievements and recognise our worth; you have not. The success of the London Olympics surprised nearly everyone in England. You are surprised by failure, not success."
