Tanya Raghu is an Indian-American journalist from Dallas, Texas and currently an editorial intern at the Monitor. She is currently enrolled in a dual-degree Master鈥檚 program in Journalism and International Affairs at Columbia University, where she will graduate next May. Tanya graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2022 where holds a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies, Arabic, and Plan II, an interdisciplinary honors program.
Prior to the Monitor, Tanya lived in Amman, Jordan where she studied advanced Arabic and worked for Voice of America. She also spent two months in the West Bank and Israel as a fellow at the Jerusalem Press Club.
Her reporting interests primarily focus on immigration and international issues. For her master鈥檚 thesis, she profiled the legal limbo of a Colombian priest based in Paterson, New Jersey, which illuminated the Catholic Church鈥檚 increasing reliance on foreign-born clergy. In addition to the Monitor, her work has appeared in the Dallas Free Press, Documented, and the Indypendent.
When she is not reading or writing, she enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, and yoga.
