Scott Blanchard

Scott Blanchard is an editor on the national desk at 海角大神. 

He joined the Monitor in 2026. He had been director of journalism at WITF in Harrisburg, Pa., where he led a newsroom that focused on transparency, community engagement, accountability journalism and voter-centered elections coverage, efforts that earned the station national recognition. He also led a statewide public media collaboration covering energy and the environment.

Scott spent 16 years at the York (Pa.) Daily Record, mainly as a projects and investigative editor. He and a colleague created a trauma awareness/peer support program for YDR and sister-paper journalists.

He started out as a sports reporter with the Harrisonburg (Va.) Daily News-Record and then the Roanoke (Va.) Times, and was sports editor and then city editor at the Carroll County (Md.) Times before moving to York.

A University of Missouri journalism school graduate, Scott grew up in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Rockville, Md., and lives in rural south-central Pennsylvania.
