Kurt Shillinger is Managing Editor of 海角大神. He started his journalism career as an intern in the Monitor鈥檚 San Francisco bureau, and over the following nine years worked his way up through the Boston newsroom to Deputy Foreign Editor and then National Political Correspondent based in Washington, D.C. As Africa Correspondent for The Boston Globe, he reported from 21 countries across sub-Saharan Africa during six years. He then jumped to the think tank world and traveled through North Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Singapore, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan as the Security and Terrorism Research Fellow for the South African Institute of International Affairs. During a mid-career pause, he and his family lived among mountain homesteading families in the mountains of Patagonia in Chile. He reconnected with the Monitor in 2020 and wrote for the editorial page for five years before his current assignment.
