Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

A revelation in the Rockies

Big-power summits highlight what the leaders of the world order are doing 鈥� or not doing 鈥� to help nurture stability. Nations鈥� goals will always vary, but it helps when there鈥檚 some unity of purpose. Sara Miller Llana traveled west from her Toronto base to cover the Group of Seven meeting in Kananaskis, Alberta, that ended last night. 鈥淪etting this summit in the Rockies was a master stroke,鈥� Sara says, the sheer majesty lending inspiration. On a lunch break, she scrambled up a trail, her media pass swaying.
