Denise joined the Monitor staff in 2015.
She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Tehran University and an M.S. in Investigative Journalism from Columbia University.
Originally from Tehran, Iran, Denise began her career in publishing. Since 2009 she has been working as a journalist mostly writing about the Middle East.
In 2012 Denise was awarded the ONA鈥檚 M.J. Bear Fellowship, given annually to three promising early career journalists under 30. She later founded , a recipient of the Online News Association (ONA) 2013 Planned News Coverage Award.
Denise is interested in international news, with the focus on the Middle East.
